Every Holiday Club booking includes access to our exciting programme of visiting workshops – all at no extra cost. Alongside experienced visiting coaches, children will also enjoy sessions led by our own talented team, giving them the opportunity to discover new interests, learn new skills and make unforgettable memories.
Circus Skills Workshop – Wednesday 29th July
Delivered by Project Hoop
Step right up for an exciting circus adventure! Children will have the opportunity to learn a range of fun circus skills, including hula hooping, juggling, plate spinning and balancing challenges. It’s a fantastic way to build confidence, coordination and teamwork while having lots of fun.
Animal Handling Experience- Wednesday 19th August
Delivered by Wriggly Roadshow
Get up close with an amazing selection of exotic animals during this hands-on animal encounter. Children will have the opportunity to meet, learn about and, where appropriate, handle a variety of fascinating creatures in a fun, interactive and educational session led by experienced, fully insured handlers.

Discover one of the UK’s fastest-growing sports! Children will enjoy fun games, teamwork and skill-building as they experience the exciting, non-contact version of American Football, which will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Olympic Games.
Included Weekly Workshops
Monday A.M. – LEGO Club
Led by our creative team, children can enjoy building with our full range of LEGO sets, taking on fun challenges and creating their own imaginative designs.
Tuesday A.M. –Rugby Skills & Games
Delivered by our specialist coach, Owain, this energetic session combines tag rugby, team games and fun sporting challenges, helping children build confidence, coordination and teamwork while having lots of fun.
Wednesday A.M. – Dance & Cheerleading Club
Led by Natasha, one of our own team members with a passion and background in dance, children will enjoy learning fun routines, cheerleading moves and energetic games in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Thursday A.M. – Multi Sports Club
Led by Dan, this action-packed workshop introduces children to a variety of exciting sports and team games, encouraging participation, teamwork and trying something new in a fun, supportive environment. Molly, one of our own team members will be leading the class on the 13th August.

Children can help themselves to a range of breakfast options:
Self service cereal station, fresh seasonal fruit, yoghurts, toast.
Milk or water to drink.
Short Day Arrival

Please note this session does not include breakfast or afternoon snacks.
Mid morning snack
Please bring extra snacks from home if you think your child will need another boost before lunch.
Activities and play
7:45 a.m. – 12:00pm
Children can take part in many structured activities. Get creative, build dens, play with friends, take part in sports. Luckily for us we are a permanent building so we have an array of equipment and activities on offer and on rotation as well as the seasonal planned activities such as create your own slime!

A range of healthy snacks are on offer at our afternoon self service buffet. Children can make up their own wraps/bagels with various fillings and help themselves to crackers, rice cakes, fresh fruit, hummus, vegetable sticks and salad.

What to bring?

We provide a fresh, healthy breakfast and afternoon snacks, along with water, juice, and milk.
Please send a packed lunch and, if needed, a mid-morning snack.
Nut-free policy: To keep everyone safe, no nut products are allowed on site.

Please ensure your child brings a refillable drinks bottle each day.
✅ Weather-Appropriate Clothing
In colder months, bring warm coats, hats, and gloves.
In warmer weather, pack sun hats and sunscreen.
✅ Personal Items
No mobile phones or tablets, please.
Children may bring their own games or toys, but they are responsible for them.
Scooters are welcome, but helmets are required for safety.
About us
Hursthead out of school club has use of its own comfortable building in the school grounds, sole use of the school hall, play ground and playing fields.
ALL our staff are trained and are kept up to date in Paediatric First Aid.
For the 36 years that Elm Cottage has been caring for children we have always believed that every member of our team should be trained in and kept up to date in paediatric first aid, this is something we have felt very strongly about and has been implemented since first opening in 1989.
We now work with Millie’s Trust regularly and are proud to also provide support for our parents/carers with evening paediatric first aid workshops across our nursery settings.
Elm Cottage
Established in 1989, Elm Cottage has proudly supported families with trusted, high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 11 years. We operate Ofsted-rated nurseries and out-of-school clubs across the Stockport area.
Our Hursthead of School Club and Holiday Club first opened in 2005 and continues to offer a welcoming, active, and supportive environment for children. Located within the school grounds, we have our own building, and access to the , outdoor playground, and spacious playing fields and Forest area — giving children plenty of room to play, explore, and thrive.
Paediatric First Aid
At Elm Cottage, we believe every child deserves to be cared for by fully trained staff. That’s why every member of our team is trained and regularly updated in Paediatric First Aid — a standard we’ve upheld since we first opened in 1989.
We’re proud to partner with Millie’s Trust to keep our training current and comprehensive. We also extend this support to families by offering evening Paediatric First Aid workshops for parents and carers across our nursery settings.

We are proud to share that in our latest Ofsted inspection (2025), we were awarded a MET – the highest possible grade for out-of-school club providers. This reflects our commitment to quality, safety, and providing the best experience for every child.
